Cupcakes and Thermomix

Rose flavoured 'Fairy Princess' cupcakes

I feel like everything has been so busy and spiralling out of control the last few weeks, but now with a couple of big things out of the way, I am hoping to get into a bit of routine and post here at least once a week.

A few of you said you would be interested in hearing how all the Thermomix stuff goes, so I want to talk about it, but seeing as I have barely talked about Thermomix stuff on my blog before, I am a little hesitant to. I really don't want it to start to seem like a promotional blog. But the reality is that I love my little machine. It makes me happy. It is a big part of my life, that is becoming a more important part of my life due to me becoming a consultant. I am not sure how long I will be a consultant for, but regardless of that, I will still be using my thermomix every day (probably several times a day). So I guess what I want to say, is that this is a little warning, that this blog is potentially going to show a lot of Thermomix recipes from now on, because my blog is about my life.

I am at the end of my first month of being a consultant. I enjoy doing the demonstrations, although it is a little nerve-wracking. I mainly just get worried that I am going to forget something crucial, but I have done 3 now and have found that they have all gone quite differently but have all been enjoyable, both for me and the guests. A lot of people have heard about Thermomix now, and love the chance to see it in action; and then there are a couple who haven't heard about them and are pretty blown away by what it can do.

The things that I find really hard are self-promotion (asking people to have demos), following up and asking if they actually want to buy it (this comes down I think to a few things, such as feeling it is wrong to talk about money, and also that people are independent thinkers and if they want to buy then they will let me know, but this isn't how sales works is it?). The final thing I find really hard is follow up phone calls. I have a fear of the phone. I hate phone calls. Full stop. I think I am quite a visual person, and find it really hard when I can't see the face of the person I am talking to. However, I obviously just need to get over myself and make the calls if I am going to make this work. Do other people have this problem, of not liking phones?

The exciting news is that I sold one. It was pretty much in the bag, as the Rocket's Godmother has seen mine over the last couple of months since she moved to Melbourne, and had pretty much decided she was going to get one, regardless of me being a consultant. It was really exciting delivering it to her, and even better to receive her excited texts in the following days saying how much she loves it. For many people (including me) it is life changing, and it is really special to be able to be part of that.

Anyway, I was going to just do a short post, which this obviously isn't! So I better stop now, and go and do some reading for Law.

Below are a few pics of some Rose flavoured 'Fairy Princess' cupcakes I made for my little girls 3rd birthday which was just over a week ago. I am going to aim to post the recipe (made in Thermomix) next time.
Have a lovely week everyone!!

  1. What you said about the excited texts is true... it makes it all worthwhile.
This coming week I've got 4 demos lined up... all MILES away from my place. I'm taking my two "L" platers as chauffeurs... may as well kill two birds with the one stone and get some of their 120 hours out of the way!
And as for forgetting things at the demos... so far I've forgotten the thermomat (once), forgotten to add the veggie stock to the risotto (once), nearly forgot to buy mushrooms for the risotto at my first demo... I figure that by the time I do a few more I'll have come to the end of the mistakes I can make and then I'll be right!!
Good luck! Tonight I'm going to a delivery demo so she has her own thermomix. My boys are rapt because now it'll be easy for them to cook their own dinner while I'm gone.

    1. Thanks for your comment Frogdancer. I agree with you with the mistakes, may as well get all the mistakes out of the way as soon as possible :)
Sounds like it is all going wonderfully for you. I am hoping that my momentum might pick up a bit soon! Lovely to hear that your boys are so keen to use it. It has made my boys much more enthusiastic about cooking and food in general, which has been a lovely and unexpected side effect!

  2. I don't know if i will ever be able to afford one but I am interested in reading more about it. (and congrats on selling one). I sold tupperware for 3 months and was great at selling, but never pushed anyone to have a party sop reached dead ends - no parties = no sales. I also have a fear of the phone so can relate.

    1. Thanks for your comment Deb, and thanks for sharing that you gave Tupperware a go. I suspect that might be my problem too, at not being very good at creating more demonstrations! Regardless of whether I keep going or not, it has definitely been a good learning experience.

  3. I love these little congratulatory cupcakes! Woohoo for you! I bow down to anyone and everyone who demonstrates Thermomix because I am much too shy and could never, ever, even attempt it. Scares me just to think about it! I'm happy for you because you get to share your TMX joy with others. Life-changing it sure is! Big cheers, H.

    1. Thanks so much for your comment H, I think of myself as being very shy too, but decided that it would be good for me to give a try to get outside my comfort zone, and it has definitely done that! I love seeing everyone's reactions to it, it definitely impresses people, but I do find it difficult to talk to people about buying it, and also as Deb says above that organising to have more demos is a challenge too.

    1. Hi Sarah, I can only speak for myself, but it has definitely been worth it for me. Apart from saving time and money, I am making more things from scratch than ever before, my little girl's excema has cleared up, and I am loving cooking again instead of it just being a chore. I would definitely recommend that you see a demonstration, that way you can figure out how it would fit into your life. I don't suppose you live in Melbourne :)

  5. Hi Sannah. You probably didn't think I'm still reading but I am. Plus, I keep wondering about thermomixes... so if I ever look into it (we'd have to save up for a while) YOU will be my lady. Anyway, my Susannah is pulling at my leg for a feed, so off I go... I have become a lurker! xx Gina

  6. Hello Sannah,

Just wanted to say how much I love my Thermomix, I used it four times the other day! It is an amazing device and can really help with making healthy food. Made orange juice recently with whole, peeled oranges, ice and water, which was totally divine... and all that fibre too! Keep up the good work.

  7. I just wanted to reassure you that I (a fairly normal human being, if I do say so myself :-P) HATE using the phone. When people ring my cellphone, I let it go to answerphone. If I have to ring people, unless it's someone I am close to, then I have to really psych myself into it. Just one of my little idiosyncracies - I didn't want you thinking you were alone in that!

I am currently coveting a Thermomix, I came across your post while googling for info to decide if it's worth it. Bring on tax time... :-P (btw I'm in Perth, so unfortunately I can't get you to demo for me!)
